Sliač welcomed its first chartered flight upon reopening the airport after major reconstruction on the 16th June 2011
We currently operate international flights to Burgas, Bulgaria and Antalya in Turkey. In summer 2015 we will operate flights to the ever popular Greek island (Crete) and also to the largest tourist destination in Egypt (Hurghada).
We are working on a long term project in association with recognised Slovak travel agencies to further increase our charter services.
Scheduled flights do not currently operate from Sliač; however, we are in the process of seeking such services with potential business partners.
Sports aircraft regularly use Sliač airport for training purposes, particularly for trainee pilots We frequently promote AIR DAYS, further details of which can be obtained through our airport.
Sliač airport provides military aviation services, predominantly for the Armed Forces of Slovakia. We also provide services for international allies as and when required. International military aviation is usually transport, cargo and personnel.
Since 2004, Slovakia has been a member of NATO. As such, the volume of military aircraft has significantly increased. Military aviation using Sliač, operate strictly under civil aviation regulations.
The airport also plays a crucial role in the implementation of the transplant hospital program in Banska Bystrica, because of fast and operational service in this area and co-operation across Europe.
